Choosing Your Squad

HELLO BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE! Please forgive me for falling off the grid for a little. This summer and early fall have been exciting, eventful, tiring BUT TOTALLY WORTH IT! I had the opportunity to celebrate special events with some of the people I love most and it was amazing! Even though it did wear me out a bit. I could not wait to have a full weekend home in my bed doing nothing! Lol. I hope you all had a wonderful summer/ early fall as well. I’m SUPER excited to get back to writing!

As a refresher, we define THE SUGAR RUSH as the feeling a person gets when that special person in their life pops the big question. Another way it can be defined is when one’s significant other asks them to be a part of their story, forever! One of the first things couples think of after they make this big decision is the SQUAD that’s going to help them through the process and slay by their sides.

Today, I would like to touch on picking your bride’s tribe or groom’s crew with TWO quick pointers. It’s really simple…

1.       Will this person bring additional joy or additional stress?

Humans can’t help but be human. Every person will also annoy you at some point. If the amount of joy the person will bring you outweighs the stress, then they are probably a person you should consider for your squad.

2.       Don’t feel like you HAVE to put anyone in your squad

One of my pet peeves is people feeling entitled to be in someone else’s wedding. The wedding day is a day for the world to witness the union of two people. Admittedly, the wedding is also a big deal for the couple’s parents BUT it’s not about everyone else.

Beyond the named items above, you must determine what is most important to you in a person that stands by your side on the big day. For some, having family members by their side is the most important. For others, their bridal party members are their oldest friends. Then for others, their bridal party is correlated with their favorite number (i.e. bride loves the number 3, so wants only three bridesmaids). Then still for others, their bridal party criteria are a combination of all of the above. Whatever your motivating factors may be, please keep the two tips in mind as you narrow your list.

That’s the gist! We are just starting to scratch the surface on choosing the bride’s tribe and groom’s crew!

Stay tuned for Part two which will dive into a big question… who pays for what?!

 Toodles for now, SugarBees! <3
