The Western Wedding Checklist

GOOD DAY BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!

I appreciate you all providing me with the different topics you would like for me to touch on. One of the most requested topics has been a wedding planning checklist! This is going to be a multipart series. Part one (this post) is the Western Wedding Checklist. Part two is going to be The Ghanaian Traditional Ceremony Checklist as well as some supplementary posts on specific aspects of the traditional ceremony prep and planning.

Before we jump into the actual checklist, I want to make sure we all have an understanding of what the western ceremony aka white wedding is. Wedding traditions vary depending on the country or region of the world. The Western wedding ceremony is most common in the Western World. Because of globalization, we are seeing western ceremonies all over the world now. These ceremonies consists of wedding traditions such as the bride coming down the aisle with her father, the bridal party, exchanging vows, something old/new/borrowed/blue, etc. This is also the wedding tradition that generally includes the white wedding gown which is where the colloquial term of “white wedding” comes from.

DISCLAIMER: I totally understand that everyone’s vision for their wedding may differ, so this checklist may not be an end all be all for you! Copy and paste it to a word document, then add and subtract as needed. Do you boo boo, it’s your day!

Now that we are on the same page, let’s jump into the checklist:

As I mentioned in the beginning, this is a high-level overview that may need to be customized depending on your vision for your wedding and the services your vendors provide.

Some of you are probably wondering why I didn’t put deadlines on each of the items on the checklist, as well. Some people get engaged and decide to get married within a few months. Others give themselves 18-24 months to plan and save money. Because of this large variation, I thought it best to just list everything. Just hit the list one at a time!

I hope this helps you gather your ideas and makes the wedding planning task a little less daunting.

Please share, comment, like, subscribe, pin-it…all that! LOL! I appreciate you all!
