Hold Up! What Comes Next?: The Western Ceremony Program

Good Day Beautiful People! Thank you for continuing to rock with me!

Following the post with the run of show for a GH Traditional Marriage, I figured it was only right to chat through a few other sample programs. First, let’s talk Western ceremony! Depending on the officiant or the church that you’re apart of, the flow of events of your ceremony may vary. A large percentage of the weddings that I have attended, been a part of, and attended have been affiliated with the Church of Pentecost, so this is what I am most familiar with. So, I would like to share with you all a sample COP wedding program:

  • Opening Prayer

  • Arrival of Groom

  • Songs of Praise

  • Bridal Party Processional

  • Call to Worship

  • Exchange of Vows

  • Prayer for Couple

  • Signing of Marriage Certificate/Offering

  • Exhortation & Prayer

  • Presentation of Marriage Certificate

  • Couple’s Response (optional)

  • Closing Prayer

  • Benediction

If you are a COP member or marrying a COP member, please keep in mind that the above is just a sample. So please, please consult your local leadership for guidance on this especially if you want to add scripture readings and/or song ministrations to your program.

Now I have to admit, the Church of Pentecost wedding ceremony structure tends to differ from other churches, please see below for a generic flow of events:

  • Seating of Parents

  • Wedding party processional

  • Bride processional

  • Opening Prayer

  • Poem or scripture reading

  • Exchange of vows and blessing of rings

  • Unity sand, candle, or communion ceremony

  • Closing Prayer

  • Recessional

Thanks for reading! Our next post, sample reception programs! Before leaving this page, copy the link and share this with a friend!
