Good day, beautiful people! I trust that you all are doing well and staying safe. This blog post is dedicated to all of the 2020 couples trekking through this crazy time.
Before we get into specific advice regarding weddings and things, let’s have a heart to heart. A year ago or so, when you got engaged and started planning your big day, you NEVER imagined that COVID-19 would literally drop from the sky and shift your plans. One thing I’ve been reminded of time and time again this quarantine period is God’s plan > our plan for ourselves. He tells us and He has plans to ensure that we prosper and to give us peace. Where do we find that peace? We find it in HIM. We find it when we seek His face and study His word. If you begin to seek Him wholeheartedly, I guarantee that you will find peace in the midst of the chaos. If you’re not sure where to start, please send me a note and I’ll be more than happy to provide you with some resources.
In this quarantine period, I also realize that God keeps shifting my focus. Any time I think about doing something, I start to think what’s really the point of this? What’s the purpose? What’s the motivation? This applies to wedding celebrations as well. Y’all know I love a beautiful, well-organized wedding but then I’m reminded that the purpose of a wedding is to celebrate the beginning of a marriage. The longevity of the marriage is the most important part of all!
2020 couples- we are in a weird time. I encourage you to prayerfully make a decision on what the best step is for your future marriage and your family. As you are praying, try to have an open mind because many times what God wants for us may differ from the way we think things are meant to be. The best decision for you may be to postpone your wedding date. For others, the best decision may be to maintain your wedding date and make adjustments to have an intimate celebration. As long as you make a decision that is in line with His will for your life, I guarantee you that it will allll work together for your good! In His timing, He will make it beautiful! Because guess what…LOVE IS NOT CANCELED!
Even when things don’t look the way we imagined, we must still give thanks. So do me a favor and thank God for the next 60 seconds. Literally set a timer and just thank Him for His continuous blessings.
